I was looking on the web and found a '95 GT that said it was a manual but when I looked at the pictures it looked like an automatic. There aren't any pictures that show very good. Is there any way to tell by looking at the VIN?

no there is not a way to tell by the vin, however there may be a tag on the door that will list axle, transmission codes, and a whole hoopla of info.

Well typically you can tell if it's automatic if you see the following info next to the stick:
