Ford MustangThe Mustang remains one of the most widely recognized, respected, and desired nameplates in the automobile business. The Ford Mustang defined the pony-car segment in 1964; Plymouth's Barracuda may have beaten Ford to the showroom by 16 days, but it was the Mustang that set the sales records. The 'Cuda is gone now leaving Ford's pony to prance alone.
i have a 92 mustang with 4 cyl. auto. the tranny slips going from 2nd to drive and sometimes from drive to OD. what would cause this? could i rebuild it to solve to problem or do i have to replace the tranny completly. i have two of these cars same year same motor just one is a hatchback and one is convertible. the tranny in the convertible is gone 3rd and OD is out of it and reverse only works when its warmed up.. im putting the a4ld out of the hatchback into the convertible and converting the hatch into a V-8 any suggestions on the a4ld problems?
I have heard that most of those transmissions slip or lose gears over time, I think they also put them into the tarus, and tempo among other makes. Usually with a major (bump) as it goes into selected gears, My guess would be dirty filter or a loose band but definitly not sure. Good Luck
I just had to replace the 2.3L in my '92 convertible and since the auto trans was slipping I had AAMCO rebuild it while the engine was out. $1384 dollars later, it no longer slips but I probably could have bought a new transmission at that price. However, they were able to flush out the cooling coils and lines and did tow it to their shop from my house.
MY problem is that the fuel lines from the fuel filter to the fuel injection have two quick disconnects just below the right side of the engine. The feed line from the filter is larger than the return line going back to the tank. Soooo, the clips that hold the two quickdisconnects are not the same. I can get the clips for the feed line at any autoparts store. The clip for the return line is not available from the FORD dealership (the 92 Mustang is TOO old!) and I cannot reuse the old clip.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A FUEL RETURN LINE RETAINING CLIP FOR A 92 MUSTANG LX 2.3L????
