Ford Mustang The Mustang remains one of the most widely recognized, respected, and desired nameplates in the automobile business. The Ford Mustang defined the pony-car segment in 1964; Plymouth's Barracuda may have beaten Ford to the showroom by 16 days, but it was the Mustang that set the sales records. The 'Cuda is gone now leaving Ford's pony to prance alone.

Default 88 notchback project

hey.. I know I'm new to this forum but it's better late then never. I can use all the help I can get.

So!

I'm building a 1988 mustang lx. Bought the car with a moderate 302 (303 cam, exhaust) dropped in, but thats all going to change. I want to build a nice looking, driveable car that i can run at the track.

My engine has since been torn apart (it wasent in great shape), and is being completly rebuilt. I was toying with the idea of a 331 or 347 stroker, but decided it would be much too expensive, and possibly not strong enough to withstand boost. So, its being built as a 306. Everything is being done top of the line. High end aluminum heads (already being worked and flowed) forged racing pistons, rods, crank,. new cam.. I'll post the motor build as soon as i know exactly what it is. Eventually I plan on adding some form of forced induction.

Now, I only have t-5 tranny. I want to stick with a manual but the t-5 isnt going to cut it and i'm working on a fixed budget. Maybe a t-56? Any idea's on where I could find one suitable for my car for cheap? I found several t-56 from corvettes but dont think that would work.. HELP!

I bought a build 8.8. 4:10fms gear, moser 33 spline axles, moser full spool, c-clip eliminators, urethane upper bushings, new brake line...
The rear end is about the only thing ready to go.

I'm having the car painted.. not show car but damn good.

And suspension. I have NO clue. I think I want 90/10's but am not sure.. want to do full suspension. definatly need advice.

Thats everything I can think of but I'm sure there will be more. I'll post pic's if anyone is interested. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Also doing full wheels/tire. hoping to go with 4 lug saleen sc chrome rims 17x8 in froint and 17x10 in back.. Will the 17x10 even fit? also, I want to run the biggest rear i can (315/40/17's?) but don't know what i can fit..

Thanks
Jack
