Ford Mustang The Mustang remains one of the most widely recognized, respected, and desired nameplates in the automobile business. The Ford Mustang defined the pony-car segment in 1964; Plymouth's Barracuda may have beaten Ford to the showroom by 16 days, but it was the Mustang that set the sales records. The 'Cuda is gone now leaving Ford's pony to prance alone.

Exclamation Serious Engine Vibration

'94 AOD 5.0 GT Convertible

From 1000 - 1200 rpm, my GT shakes like crazy. Doesn't matter if I'm in Drive, Park, Neutral, 2, 1, going all speeds. Any time I hit that rpm, the car shakes and vibrates like nuts. I'm totally broke and hoping to solve this in my garage, need to get something done before it vibrates other stuff loose.

Let me know if you know anything.

Thanks guys.

kinda sounds like you have a broken converter--sounds like it goes out of balance right at lock up--

Converter? I've heard Harmonic Balancer and Flywheel. That's a new one, anything else you could tell me?

I'm guessing you mean Torque Converter, right?

Thanks.

a torque convertor can cause a vibration if its not even bolted up tightly, but usually you get a heck of alot of rattles with the vibration.

put the car up on jack stands and get under it. you might have to unbolt a bunch of things, but before you do, check ur injectors. make sure all have their wires plugged in all the way. i wont tell you how i know this but if one isn't quite plugged in all the way, what ur describing will happen. lol im usually in the t-bird section keep me posted on what you find. best way to save yourself money and get this thing running is to keep asking questions and eliminate possiblities looking over things urself. we'll get ya up and running soon enough, no worries.

seems like a cracked flywheel...pretty much of a typical problem.

Ok. First off I subscribe to the KISS principle when working on anything.
Keep
It
Simple
Stupid

Don't go looking for crazy off the cuff solutions. Systematically check all of the simple stuff first. This would include: motor mounts, transmission mounts, and u joints. (At this point it might not hurt to do a regular tune up also). After you've checked those things then you can delve into things such as your converter or flexplate.

This is what it sounds like to me.

Do you hear vibration or can you actually feel it like an earth quake?
