| Drama wit the 71 P71 trans I recently had my trans rebuilt ($1100) and soon after (896 miles) I began to have trouble out of the transmission ,( i.e.; jerking while driving, slow take off, whining, etc) and now it'll only go one way at a time (if it goes in drive it won't go in reverse at all and vice versa). I replaced my filter and fluid @ 896 miles and it ran for another 100 or so, but now it's stuck again and won't go in drive. I can feel it wanting to, but it seems as if the pump is clogged up (and this is more than lokely because the asshole that rebuilt the trans didn't tell me that I had to replace or flush my OTA line) and I'm discouraged. I'm not gonna pay another $1100 for a rebuilt or even buy a used trans. Is it too late to flush out the OTA line. Better yet, if I flush out the line, what can I do to unclog the pump if that's the problem? HELP! I haven't driven my car in over a month and I'm starting to seriously contemplate selling it. |

| Go for it, flush the lines and see what happens.
The guy who rebuilt it wasn't out of line. The general rule is to always flush the cooler when you change the transmission.

| I said fuk it and went on and got a complete rebuild from reputable shop with a 1 year warranty. Trans has to date almost 2000 miles and I've discovered that I have a oil line leak, so I bought new lines and threw em in the trunk since I have no clue as to how to put em in. |
