I would like to know what the speed limiter is on a 1997, unmodified, 3.8L, V6, 145 HP Thunderbird is. I tried contacting my Ford dealer, but they said because it is a dated vehicle and their files only went back ten years they couldn't help me. The car is in fairly poor shape, and police accused the driver of driving 195 km/h (120 mph) on a crowded, curved road. I'd like to prove that this would be relatively impossible from the car, and that the charges are outrageously false.
If anyone kows the answer to this or how to find the answer to this, I would greatly appreciate the help!!
I suppose that you could take the actual vehicle to a race track and have its top speed clocked.
Certainly here in the states there are standardized ways to challenge radar. The units need to be inspected and calibrated on a specified time basis, the operator needs to have certain training etc. I have no idea what the legal requirements are in your country.
Good luck!
