The 427 sohc is the mother of all Ford big blocks. Maybe even the mother of ALL big blocks. I just saw this on ebay the other day --

Your forgetting about the Boss 429 which was a newer design with more potential.
Now a days (the past 20-ish years) with current aftermarket cylinder head design it's easy for a 429/460 to surpass the power of the SOHC 427.
It'll also be a hell of a lot cheaper and a hell of a lot easier to maintain, it'll also be something you can drive easily on the street daily.

Sure the Cammer will get more "ooooo's and ahhhhh's" when you pop the hood but is your goal racing or wowing the crowd?
