I wonder if it would if you put a Mustang ecu in there? I'd still convert to mass air though as well. Or contact them, they said that they may still be able to work with you. I'm sure you are not the first person to soup up a crown vic and they might have some answers.

Of course you may do just fine without even modifying the fuel injection at all. As long as you can maintain good intake vacuum you won't make the ecu all that mad. Tell the guys that you buy a camshaft off of that this is important.

Transfer the mustang wiring harness to your car to make it mass air flow. I know people prefer speed density cause it is easier to make HP with it.

Would I have to change over to mass air flow or worry about any of the computer things if I go with a resinable calm cam? I was looking at a few with a 204/216 degree Duration and .456/.484 lift. With a RPM range of 1500 - 4500.

I'd swap the cam first, and if it runs fine then not sweat it. You'll have to understand that every engine is different, and you may or may not get by with speed density.

I emailed a guy at Cranecams and here is what he said. Assuming that you have the standard 5.0L V8 in your Crown Victoria, our part number 444211, grind number PowerMax 2020, camshaft should be applicable. This has an advertised duration of 262 degrees intake, 270 degrees exhaust. Gross valve lift is .530” on both intake and exhaust. Lobe separation is 112 degrees. The duration at .050” is 208 degrees intake, 216 degrees exhaust. This will provide a good idle, strong low-end and mid-range torque and HP, and should not require any computer or fuel injection updates. This grind is 50 state legal, having been issued C.A.R.B. E.O. D-225-46. If they’re in good condition, your lifters and valve springs can be used.

I can't imagine the valve springs handling .530 lift. I'd run the heads or springs to a machine shop and have them verify that they can do that when you have the engine apart.

IF you are just looking for a bit more power try just roller rockers with increased lift, The roller part alone will free up some power robbing stiction and the added opening time will let it breathe a bit more over stock.Proform 66876 Proform Aluminum Roller Rockers
A vacuum canister can also help smooth out pulses from a high lift cam if you go that route.

If you have intermittant running problems or a flat spot/buck/dying/cutting out while accelerating.
Do your self a favor and try some dedicated gas
line dryer, Double or even triple dose it, It's cheaper
then throwing parts at a problem that doesn't throw
codes!!

Well IIRC the firing order also depends on where the piston is too along with the cam opening.
