Ford Pick-Up Ford Pickup Trucks - 1948 thru 1979 1948 was the year that Ford introduced the "F" prefix for use in designating the load capacity of its lighter duty trucks. The 1/2 ton was called an F-1, the 3/4 ton truck was referred to as an F-2 and the F-3 designation meant a one ton carrying capacity Pickup. The "F" series continued through F-8 for heavy duty trucks.

No one seems to be able to tell me! If not why? Or why not? Thanks..........

in 2005 i bought a 05 5.4....i have a 03 f150 2wd sport with 4.6 and want to stuff the 5.4 in there with possible a roush supercharger, i know my tranny will have to be changed and other modifactions will have to be done to get this engine to fit...but my biggest problem is finding anyone to talk about wiring this engine...no one wants to touch it

If you haven't installed the engine, do you want to sell it?

Talking Swap?

Well I have a 1999 Ford Expedition XLT and I had the same bright idea, that some of you have had, that i was going to swap a newer engine in the older truck. Well I found my engine, 2002 Ford 5.4 Triton V-8 with 1000 miles on it, sweet............ah no. I was told it was an '02, well when it came,it magically turned into an 2003 Ford 5.4 Triton V-8 with 1000 miles (thanks Ebay). After the flying car parts and the months of no one (Ford) knowing or wanting to talk about swapping an '03 into an '99. I found out that I would have to change the ECM, UNDERDASH wire harness and my exhaust system (maybe, still not sure). The 98-02s (f-150, expeditions) are relatively the same engines and will swap. The 03 f-150 might swap over but I have too little information. The 2003 and newer expedition and f-series engines will require some modifications (computer and underdash wire harness) to fit in an older truck and a bit more money. So...............If you still want
to swap engines I have a 2003-05 Ford 5.4 Triton V-8 with 1000 miles for sale.

Good Luck Guys

im keeping the block for my 5.4 build, the 3vs have too much crap involved for me to be doing right now, the variable timing is the killer however ive heard of people disconnecting the variable time and setting the cam gears back one notch then running them on the original computers for the 2v engines... the block can be used for a 2v application so i got a low mile base to start with

you should have no problems with the 03 engines only if its from a f150 and not an expetition (they used the 3v). you may have to swap some parts around as there was somthing about the brackets or somthing being different
