Ford Pick-Up Ford Pickup Trucks - 1948 thru 1979 1948 was the year that Ford introduced the "F" prefix for use in designating the load capacity of its lighter duty trucks. The 1/2 ton was called an F-1, the 3/4 ton truck was referred to as an F-2 and the F-3 designation meant a one ton carrying capacity Pickup. The "F" series continued through F-8 for heavy duty trucks.

Default ford 6 cylinder
hey guys, tried searching but i guess the general un-popularity of the 6 cylinder offered in the f-series led to a minimal amount of info about these ugly-duckling engines. I just got a 1986 F150 and it has a straight six in it. Did this engine come in anything else that i can get more info from? or even better, does anyone know of any books/websites regarding these engines? Thanks a bunch.

Default The I-6 Wasn't rare
Ford made that six banger for years, it was verry popular, they used it in F150s, F250s, F350s, And a bunch of cars. What kind of info are you looking for? I have one in one of my trucks, I know that they are verry reliable engines you can abuse them, overheat them, overwork them, and they just keep running, they're like the freaking energiser bunny.
