Ford Pick-Up Ford Pickup Trucks - 1948 thru 1979 1948 was the year that Ford introduced the "F" prefix for use in designating the load capacity of its lighter duty trucks. The 1/2 ton was called an F-1, the 3/4 ton truck was referred to as an F-2 and the F-3 designation meant a one ton carrying capacity Pickup. The "F" series continued through F-8 for heavy duty trucks.

Default 86 f150 trouble starting
I have a 86 f-150 pickup and have trouble starting it it will start and after it has been running for awhile shut it off it sounds like the battery is dead but its not and if you jump it it will start. does anybody have a clue with whats wrong??

check the alternator is charging, you need about 13.5 to 14.5 volts while running.
