Ford Pick-Up Ford Pickup Trucks - 1948 thru 1979 1948 was the year that Ford introduced the "F" prefix for use in designating the load capacity of its lighter duty trucks. The 1/2 ton was called an F-1, the 3/4 ton truck was referred to as an F-2 and the F-3 designation meant a one ton carrying capacity Pickup. The "F" series continued through F-8 for heavy duty trucks.

Default 85 f150 bad leak

I recently bought an 85 F150 with the 351 Windsor 2 barrel, I must say I love it already. I also love the fact that it only has 90K. I haven't had any problems with it until recently.

It started keaking what I think to be coolant in the passenger side foot-well. Not too bad, but annoying. Then the other day it started smoking REAL bad into the cab of the truck. The smoke smelled sweet and tasted pretty bad, so I assumed it was coolant leaking onto something hot and smoking up on the inside. Once it started I pulled over and popped the hood, but there wasn't much smoke, it was all going into the cab. I traced it back to the left side of the engine bay in front of the passenger side. The two large black peices connected to the firewall is where I think it's coming from.

I'm thinking of taking those apart and trying to isolate the leak, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice/ideas.

Probably a bad heater core. Droop or remove the glove box lid and see if you can tell if that is where the leak is.
