Ford Probe The Probe appeared in 1988 and lasted until 1997 in the United States. It was based on a series of futuristic concept cars of the early 1980s, the likes of which have been seen in films like Judge Dredd, Back to the Future Part II and Total Recall. Default TPS Throttle Position Sensor

Just a question concerning the TPS. I have a V6 2.5L engine. I have a spare TPS. I checked the TPS prior to changing it on the throttle body. The TPS moved freely and easily. I changed the TPS and the one I took off was locked up. It took a lot of pressure to get it to move freely again. I took the second one off and it to took a lot of pressure to move it. Is this normal or is there something wrong with either the TPS or the butterfly that the TPS moves?

I don't know what happened but I took the TPS off, freed it and put it back on and the car idled perfectly. Not only that, my Check Engine light went off for the first time in about a year. I showed it off that the light was out. Drove my son and his girlfriend to her house and when I left the damn Check Engine light came back on. Later on, after the engine cooled, I backed it into the new shelter I put up for it. When I started the car, the engine was cold and the Check Engine light was again off. All I have to do now, is figure out why it stays off when cold and comes on when warmed up.

Any ideas what code?Hard to say about the tp sensor you did get it installed with the little triangles on the correct side of the blade coming off the throttle body?It also wouldnt hurt to clean the carbon out of the throttle plate.
