Ford Probe The Probe appeared in 1988 and lasted until 1997 in the United States. It was based on a series of futuristic concept cars of the early 1980s, the likes of which have been seen in films like Judge Dredd, Back to the Future Part II and Total Recall. It was a coupe based on the Mazda GD platform, and was powered by a 2.2 L SOHC I4 cylinder Mazda F2 engine.

Default How to pull 95 ford probe trouble code

Hello my name is jared and i own a 95 ford probe 2.0 liter 4 cylinder. My check engine light is on and the car idles poorly if at all, and is even worse once the car warms up. I have bought a chilton and a trouble code puller books and still have not figured out how to pull the code. THere is no ten pin on the diagnostics panel under the hood on the driver side, and the books i own outline grounding the ten pin on the 2.5L v-6 which i do not have. I cannot find an OBD-1 scanner for my ford (which is really a mazda). can anyone tell me how to pull the code or what model number OBD-1 scanner i need if applicable?? thanks a lot, jared.

check out this link, as it says connect your TEN pin to the ground pin and your codes will flash on your dashboard engine light.

stefcraw,
try following the instruction in the above link. You don't need a scan tool for your car. This is really cool because you can be anywhere, and pull trouble codes if your car breaks down, without any specialized tools. All you need is a short piece of wire... maybe just a paperclip.
The codes will be flashed to your dashboard check engine light.
The instructions are clear if you know how to do it, and are a little confusing at first, but if you try it, they will then suddenly make sense.

Great info, but, my 1995 Ford Probe 4 cyl. does not have a pin in the "TEN" position. There are only (5) pins located in the case labeled DIAGNOSTICS. They are, in the uppper section, GND and B+ In the lower section the (3) pins are identified as FAB, GND, and TAB. A second box is located next to the DIAGNOSTICS box and is labeled EEC TEST. Can you offer any further info about how to retrieve the codes?

Read the link to the full size broncos, and use the gray connector in your picture and the one to the right of it.

Pull Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) From your onboard computer.
Your engine and transmission are computer controlled.
The computer uses sensors to tell it a number of different things and it controls actuators that push or pull mechanical levers (kinda). If one or more sensors aren't working properly, the computer goes "blind" and doesn't know what to do. If the computer can "see" but one of the actuators is broken and therefore can't follow the commands of the computer; the engine won't run correctly. The computer is preprogrammed with set values for each of its sensors, and each of its actuators. It will run a self check of all systems, like the space shuttle; it will compare its set value(s) to the value(s) it recieves from its sensors, and actuators. If any sensor or acutator is out of the "normal" range the computer will generate a "code." It will generate some codes on the fly, and others will be stored while you are driving. There is a simple method to "pull codes" out of the computer for one to use for diagnostic purposes.

Earlier versions of On Board Diagnostics OBD 1983-1995 can flash the error code to the dash board and can be pulled in one's driveway without any special tools.
Later versions of On Board Diagnostics OBDII some 1995, and pretty much all 1996 and newer, require one to use a code reader or scanner tool.

Some auto parts stores will scan your engine codes for FREE, you may want to call around. Some will scan OBDII but not the older (prior to 1996) OBD systems.

SO here you go...
How to scan FORD on board Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in your driveway
Howto Pull Codes 1983-1995 Broncos, Mustang, F series Trucks, Econolines, 302, 351 and more

Good luck!

Great instructions Here is what I found. The first time that I turned the key on, On Demand Codes = 15 and 9. The Continuous Memeory Codes = 17 and 28. I took the car for a ride and tried again. The Demand Code = 111. The Memory Code = 17, 2, 18. The KOER Codes = 41 and 1. I tried to replicate the KOER codes a second time and could not retrieve any. Any thoughts?

Ralph1,
I would say... forget all the codes that you got so far.
Now that you have done it twice, you are familiar with how it is done.
Now re-read the instructions, they'll make a lot more sense now.
Then pull codes again.
You shouldn't be getting different codes each time that you do it.

If you are sure that you are pulling codes correctly, and the codes are different each time, then you have to check your grounds. I have seen a poor ground to the PCM cause it to throw different codes, because most/many of the sensors are grounded by way of it.
