Ford ProbeThe Probe appeared in 1988 and lasted until 1997 in the United States. It was based on a series of futuristic concept cars of the early 1980s, the likes of which have been seen in films like Judge Dredd, Back to the Future Part II and Total Recall. It was a coupe based on the Mazda GD platform, and was powered by a 2.2 L SOHC I4 cylinder Mazda F2 engine.
i have a 96 probe with 70000 miles on it. i was driving on the highway and once i reached 60mph the motor started sputtering and refused to accelerate beyond that. i pumped the gas pedal and was able to get it to 70mph before i had to slow down. later on i was trying to give the car some gas and the speed kept dropping. i had to pull over shut down and restart the engine. also when i floor the pedal while the car is in park the rpm doesnt increase until after about 5 seconds of me holding down the accelerator all the way. im not really a car guy and i tried to explain it as best as possible. any ideas on what the problem can be?
