Ford Probe The Probe appeared in 1988 and lasted until 1997 in the United States. It was based on a series of futuristic concept cars of the early 1980s, the likes of which have been seen in films like Judge Dredd, Back to the Future Part II and Total Recall. It was a coupe based on the Mazda GD platform, and was powered by a 2.2 L SOHC I4 cylinder Mazda F2 engine.

Default 95 No Start

Hey guys, couple questions to the probesperts on the forums here. My GF has a 95 GT- auto with higher mileage as her daily driver. The other night she come home from work running fine, parked it and went out to start it the next morning and she would not start. It turns over fine and the fuel is pumping but there is no spark. I tested the plug wires with a timing light to see if there is any current running through them and I get no light when rolling it over.

My question is, what is the most common problem with this issue? Would it be the ignition relay, coil, distrib? We went to NAPA to check and see about parts and info and the fellas there all agreed that these buggies have an issue with their "control modules". What exactly would they be talking about and where would I find this module to replace it? If anyone has some tips or pointers on where to start that would be great.

Thanks in advance

There is an ignition control module. On the 1995 SE it is located on the front of the engine compartment by the radiator in a bracket with cooling fins. I don't know where it is on the GT. It has a plug on one end. Take it off and Advance Auto or Napa should be able to tell you if it is defective.
