Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default 2001 Ford Ranger Jack Storage

Just bought a 2001 Ford Ranger with the extended cab, and now notice I have no jack or tools, and no spare tire either (I should have checked those before I bought it and haggled the price down). Anyway, I can see where the spare tire is supposed to be, but there are two compartments on the sides of the truck behind the driver and passenger seats, and in one of them it appears that the jack must have fit there. Anybody out there have a 2001 Ford Ranger and a digital camera? Would love to see what the jack is supposed to look like and how it stores. Tried searching through the manual, but not pictures there.

Thanks! They may not be the same. I had a 99 Ford Ranger two weeks ago, for exactly two weeks. It was a great truck. Bought it from a friend, it had 41,000 miles on it. Two weeks to the day and I had a collision on the freeway, the truck was totaled. If only I had swiped the jack, and spare, before the auto dismantler towed it off.

On the 99 Ranger, regular cab, the jack was in a compartment behind the passenger seat right up against the back wall, with a cover over them that screwed down, and on my 99 Ranger all the pieces were there. On the 2001, at least with the extended cab, there are two compartments built into the sides of the truck. The one on the passenger side seems to have brackets in the bottom that look to me like what the jack should be sitting in, but I have seen one yet. I am following Rangers around like a loon hoping to speak to someone who has the jack! I'm gonna get stopped for stalking!

Default Posting a pic

There may be a way to upload a picture to this site, and then link to it in the response, but I don't know how to do that. I upload my photos to a Flickr account, then insert a link in the response:

This is my truck when it was on the lot last Saturday, right before I bought it.
