Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Thanks Putts. I was told if it was the heater core, it would be wet on the passenger side?

Sorry wkatt42 I have been real busy and frankly have not had time to get online much these last 2 days.

Yes, the heater core is generally located on the passenger side of the truck. Depending where the leak is it may spread to the drivers side but mor eunlikely this will happen.

Here is a picture of a typical heater core.

Thanks Putts for the photo. I'm taking the truck in to a body shop tomorrow, possibly it's leaking around the windshield.

Well I sure hope you get it all figured out.

I installed a stereo in the Ranger last night with a wire kit and a dash mount kit. DId it in less than an hour and it looks real good. Sounds good considering I have not changed the speakers. But that is for my daughter to buy.

Good luck!

Default Bad Wetness

hey just read your post, and i have the same problem. Mines a 93 splash and ive almost got it figured out

what ive done is replaced the already smashed windshield and caulked all the spots on the firewall, drivers side where it is bent from an accident (before me). I know that sounds weird but around the brain and where the round electric plug goes in, didnt sit flat/seal. After all that, Still leaking

Now the last thing I have to try is replacing the window seals, the ones that rust and wind up sticking up in the air. cause I think its going thru the door to the top of the running board (bottom of door jam) past the two seals that dont quite meet, at the bottom obvisouly.

Also it doesnt matter what the trucks been thru as long as you got it cheap

Hey cheap, truck is still in the body shop. Not having any luck yet finding the leak. As far as buying the truck for cheap? Not sure. I traded a 2002 pontiac sunfire, 62000 miles, sharp little car, for this truck plus $1800. I feel like I got ripped off. Trade in on my car was $4760, the truck was sold to me for $6400.

If we can find out where the leak is, and get it repaired, it won't be so bad. But I also have dash lights that don't work properly. I hvae already put over $500 in this truck and not finished yet.

Wkatt, don't feel too bad about the cost, so far. I paid $895 for the '93 Taurus below, it ended up costing me another $2500 to fix it! After getting it running again, I traded it in for $900, for my '01 Ranger.

Hey Mike J. Got the truck back from the body shop today. No luck in finding the leak. I am at my wits end, and don't know what else to do.

Wow, wkatt. I don't know what to suggest. The water has to be coming from somewhere. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Have you tried to use a hose on the hood, roof, door seams, inside the engine bay while someone sits inside with their head under the dash or close to it. Sounds silly but at least you will see if it is due to external stuff.....
