Driver's side floor soaking wet!

Hey all. can somebody HELP please? Drivers side floor was soaking wet, thought somehow water was coming in around the door or possibly the window or windshield because it seemed to get soaked when it rained. I spent all day drying it out yesterday, and drove it last night, and damn, the floor and carpet is soaking wet again, and it didn't rain. Anyone got any ideas?

It would have been better if you had started a new thread.

However, you don't say if it's water or coolant on the floor or if you have/use the A/C.

Coolant: Bad heater core or hose

Water: A/C evaporator (air box) drain blocked or dew running in from a leak in the windshield seal.

Sorry Mike, I am new to this, and did not know how to post a new thread. Anyway, it is water leaking in.

Probably a blocked A/C drain or other leak. Check your A/C drain. Otherwise, put a sprinker on top of the roof, turn on the hose, climb in and start hunting.

Mj, I did what you suggested, and cannot find a leak anywhere. It gets wet when I use the defrost and heater. I have had the drain hole blowed out, but the carpet is still wet. Don't know what else to do, it's pissin me off! The ford mechanic can't even find where it's coming from. It has a weird smell, kinda like cat urine.

Are you sure it's not coolant? Does the odor come out the vents with the heat on? Sounds like a leaking heater core or bad hose.

There's another drain for the air vent entry. That's the grill area between the windshield and hood. If that drain is blocked, the air intake area will fill with water and flow into the vehicle through the vent. This one is a bit tricky to find under the vehicle. You may be able spot it with a flash light while looking through the grill. It's usually on the passenger side.

Odd that Ford can't find the cause, but I bet they charged you $100 to look for it.

The heater core is porbably toast letting in to much moisture

Don't think I'm going to put any more money in this junk. I'm gettin rid of it if I can. Only had it a month. Found out from the carfax report, it's been through 4 owners and 3 auctions.

Hey wkatt42, changing a heater core is not that hard and deserves the effort. You sure wont be able to sell it the way it is and if you keep drving it you will get low coolant which will lead to over heating and so on...

Check the hoses going into the heater core but I am guessing it is the core. I had the same thing happen to an old Ford Econoline van and $40 later and about an hour of my time I had it changed and back together....
