Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default Won't idle. Any suggestions?

My ranger won't start unless I give it gas, something that it's never done before. Once I get it to start it won't idle on it's own. I can drive it as long as I don't stop. It'll die as soon as I hit a stop sign or a red light. Could this be the fuel pump? Anybody got any ideas. Thanks in advance. By the way, it's a 2000 Ranger Sport/ 4cyl/ 5speed.

first thing to do is get a can of carb.spray cleaner//like GUMOUT//remove the large hose from air cleaner to motor.
look in motor side and you will see black build up//spray this to wash it away//also open throttle and spray in there//let sit till fumes all gone //put hose back on and restart//should help//bob

02 sensor, plus, wires, filter, IAC valve or even the vaccum hose, i remember when i installed my throttle body spacer, i accidentally disconnected the hose and it would idle.
