Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default Engine cleaning and problems that arise

Well I decided that after all my work on the tune up oil changes, thermostat, temp sender, brake flush etc.... it was time to clean the engine bay.

So I took the good old engine cleaner spray, sprayed it nice and liberal like and let her soak for 15 minutes like the can said.

Sprayed her down and cleaned her up real good.

Started her up again and let it run for 15 minutes to dry her up and burn off any excess engine cleaner.

Went to take it around the block to get her nice and warm and help with the drying.

Turned the signal light on, didn't work, and ABS light is on.....let it run for another 10 minutes, still no luck.

Pull it into the garage, grab the compressed air and start blowing all the electrical connections dry.

Start it up, ABS light is still on but signal lights are working now.

Locate the ABS connection on LHS on the firewall. Unscrew it and a lot of water dripped out....hmmm... Took the compressed air again, dried out the inside of the connectors and screwed it back together....voila no more ABS light....

Lesson #2 today. Make sure you dry off all the connectors including the ABS connector before starting the truck after cleaning the engine bay.....
