Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default 351 cleveland

I have a project. This is my first ford project. I have done mopar and pontiac projects before, but this is my first ford.

Project----I am looking to take an old beat up 90 ranger and put into it a 351 cleveland for the purpose of 4 wheeling and trail riding. Also, i know i am going to have to entirely guy this truck out... it is 2 wd and a 5 speed manual trans. I am looking to make it 4wd, but should i keep it a 5speed or change it to automatic? I need all the info you could offer!!!!
Right now i really dont have a budget....its kinda a "when i got the money buy some parts" kind of project......

I need horsepower to climb all sorts of terrain....

could anybody help??

I need some ideas.

Thanks
