Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default 2.3 to 3.0

Hi All,
New to the forum so Please be Gentle!!
I have a 1988 Ford Ranger Extended Cab that Has a 2.3 4 cyl in it that is Blown Up.
I also have a 1990 Areostar with a 3.0 V6 with a Bad auto Tranny. Engine run's like a sewing Machine.
My question is.
Can I put this V6 Into My Ranger that has the 4 Banger?
And if so is there any help out there that will tell me how to Do It??
The Ranger has a Manual Tranny.
Thank's for any and all help

I think that the four banger has a different bolt pattern to mount to the bell housing than the 3.0 liter. The 2.9 V-6 and other earlier models of rangers won't match up. The 3.0 is a one of a kind that is different from othe Ford v-6's and to change your engine to 3.0 would mean that the transmission and everything else from the engine back would have to be changed too.
