ticking in motor

Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

cesoir45 Guest Posts: n/a	ticking in motor I have a 2.3 4 cylinder ranger that has a ticking or knock in top front of motor . I have had the head redone . I have between 40 to 50 pounds oil pressure . no smoke , run good , even 100 pounds pressure in all 4 cylinders. you can barely hear it idling , get louder as you get normal operating range .then it never get louder, Is it piston slap ? It not real loud it real irritating though I thought if it was a wrist pin it would quiet down , as i accelerated . So could it be a valve out of adjustment . are they solid or hydraulic ? It just started it when i replaced the head . cesoir45
