Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Angry 99' Windshield wiper malfunction

I have a 99' Ranger..
There seems to be a short or a problem with my windshield wipers. They continue to go off at random times while driving, and they are very annoying in fact embarassing as well. I have taken the fuse out for the summer so I don't have to worry about them going off, but rainy season is approaching and I will need to use them.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so, have you solved it? I do not know where to begin with this problem.

Is anything else working out of kilter? Or other electrical parts not working?
When you turn them on high or low, do they function normally?
When you turn them off, do they go down and park themselves?
Does the intermittent function seem to work normally?

When they come on randomly, do they come on at the same speed, and if so what speed?
Does your key in ignition chime work?
Do your door interior lights go out shortly after you close a door?
Windows and door locks work ok?

If you leave the turn directional on too long does the chime start chiming?

I have intermittent wipers that have a mind of their own... sometimes they wipe five times in a row, then go back to just once.

Overdrive light and overdrive doesn't work anymore.

Brake lights keep blowing fuses.

Inside light stays on some days for four minutes or so.

I keep unplugging stuff and trying again but fuses keep blowing. found a corroded Daytime Running Lights module just hanging there. Am cutting it off now and ending the wires to see if this helps.

Darn Ranger.

Default OMG! I have same problems! Darn Ford Ranger!

1. Wipers have a mind of their own, if on intermittent. They wipe once, pause, repeat this a few time, then all of a sudden go five times, then it starts over and all of a sudden it goes three times... bizarre. Guaranteed wacky wipers always when using intermittent.

2. Overdrive button at end of gear shift no longer does anything.

3. Horn won't work 99.999% of the time.

4. Inside cabin light comes on when door is opened and closed, and takes two minutes or longer to go off, when it feels like it, all the time the door has been closed but it tells me its still open. duh!

5. BAck up lights blow fuse EVERY time I put it in drive.
Can go from Park to reverse and back to park its fine. Go to drive and SNAP! Fuse blows # 25, I believe.

6. Had corroded daytime running lights module, cut it, taped it. Nothing changes.

7. Stupid car.
