Ford RangerMore than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.
I bought my Ranger new in '03 and have 75,000 miles on it and figured it was time to replace the clutch parts.
I bought an Exedy clutch kit and had the dealer install it today.
I had been driving in stop and go traffic for about 30 minutes after first picking the truck up from the shop and just did soft shifting with it during that time, cuz that's just how I roll.
Later in the day, I had to "get on it" in first gear from a rolling start, trying to merge with traffic.
I had no idea that there was a break-in on clutchs and was wondering whether this hard start would be enough to mess up the parts.
I shifted normally the rest of the day.It didn't seem any worse for the wear, but it never hurts to hear other thoughts on it.
The flywheel was removed and resurfaced and new slave cylinder with release bearing installed also.
Regards
