Ford RangerMore than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.
I ahve the 2.9 in my ranger and i read on the web that with a little "convincing" a 4.6 throttle body will give the motor a lil more pep.. I got the 4.6 throttle body, drilled and filled it out so that it will fit but i have 2 problems.. 1. What the h#ll do i do with the hoses that come off the bottom of the 2.9 throttle body? Do i just connect them back to themselves? they seem to be coolant lines. 2. the throttle cable on the truck pulls back towards the cab, but the 4.6 throttle body is the opposite ( the butterfly needs to move towards the rad support to accelerate). Has anyone ever done this swap and if you have how did you get the cable to work???????? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just lifted my 91 ranger 9 inches and threw 35's on her but now she needs more pep in her step to turn the trires and give me back 4th and 5th gear. i have ruled out the 5.0 swap for lack of a 5.0 and my wife will kill me if i rip this truck apart again in the yard...
