Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

try changing the fluid.. but check it first to see if there's metal in it.

Not only the fluid was change, but also the clutch was replaced. The noise is still there. Nothing happens.

sounds like gear faces.. that would require a rebuild.. but you can always drain it and put a synthetic in.. that should quiet it up.

I just went through the same thing......but mine eventually let go on the highway. Only 4th gear still worked (no 1st, 2nd,3rd, 5th or R). Spent $500 on a used trans from the wreckers and it took me about 18 hours to install (broke the exhaust manifold bolts and had to drill them out) and now it's ok. I took the top cover off of the old trans and discovered the first gear on both the upper and lower shafts were totally obliterated. I would agree with the last postr about a rebuild or replacement and you might be able to buy some time by filling it with a good synthetic. Also, you might want to ask whoever changed your clutch if they relaced the pilot bearing in the flywheel, I noticed mine was down to only the outer race (allowing the input shaft that much more room to move around)
