Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

I have a 1989 4 cylinder 5 speed.

Until today no problems. We did a complete brake job last summer. Replaced a little plastic clip for the clutch. I put a complete exhaust on it today...and then it quit running!!

I have no idea what is wrong with it, but I am leaning towards a fuel problem.

I LOVE my Ranger. We bought it used 6 years ago and paid $550.00 for it.

Hey there...1998 Ranger XLT 4x4/4.0 with 185,000 on it. I really didn't run into any major repairs until about 120,000 when I had to have the tranny replaced at $2800 with a $1000 core and $500 labor, $2300 total. Other than that this truck has been through a lot including a few trips across the country. The only thing I have to bitch about is how many sets of brakes I've put on it but anyone who knows Ford brakes can expect that!!

I have used Quaker State oil religously and it dosn't use a bit between changes if that helps!

I have a 97 Ranger 4x4 SuperCab I bought 5 years ago with 138,000 km. It is now at 230,000 and still solid. The only problems I have had were the front hubs and intake gasket (4.0L).
I was lucky on the hubs. Ford wanted $695.00 per side plus labor, for complete spindle and control arm assemblies. Fortunately mine was early production and had serviceable hubs, I installed Warn units for a LOT less than that.

I have a 95 XLT Ranger, of which I am the second owner. It has 210,000 miles in it and the only major repair I had done was a top overhaul on the engine. It's still running great up till now

Default Pushing 282K Miles

I have a 1992 Ford Ranger 3.0 Liter and I am pushing 282K miles.
Been through 2 clutches, 2 exhaust & mufflers, and many oil changes. About every 5 years I get a major overhaul (brakes, plugs, etc...) It is defiently on it's last leg. Two major issue now, it slips out of 5th gear and the door might fall off. Still original engine. I was hoping to get to 300K. Definetly got my money's worth.

But what I'm wondering is, how long have all your Rangers lasted without any major repairs? I know everybody's going to be a little different here and there, but I'm just trying to get a guage of life expectancy of the vehicle. I hope to drive mine into the ground someday .

I'll start. 2003 XLT 4.0 4x4. 80,000 miles. No major issues so far. Only oil, brakes and the drivers side front hub. I hope to get another 80K out of it.

1997 Ranger 5-speed 4 cyl 2wd extended cab. 165,000 miles and just changed timing belt, plugs, wires, etc just because it was worn.
