Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default 87 Ranger w/cracked exhaust manifold

I have an 87 Ranger with the 2.3L gas engine. It has a crack in the exhaust manifold. Is this something I can do with some help or do I need to take it to a shop?

With it being an '87, your best bet is to find a salvage yard. A friend is a good idea as a spare set of hands won't hurt. Providing the exhaust isn't welded onto the manifold it shouldn't take longer then a couple hours for the repair. If your in doubt, you can buy/consult a repair manual such as Haynes/Chilton, or, take it to a shop. Most shop hourly wage rates are insane!

Thanks for your help. It isn't welded luckily. I found a used exhaust manifold in perfect shape for $50 so I bought it. Maybe my stepdad and I will tackle it. Thanks again!
