Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default 2000 ranger XLT 4x4 Transmission shifting problems

Poor shifting from 1st to 2cnd gear. Shifts hard. The transimissions shifts OKAY manually. I have replaced s1 and s2 shift solenoids. Also, I replaced the rear end speed sensor along with the kick down shift solenoid on the side of the transmission. I can play with the RPM's while shifting and it shifts fine. So, It APPEARS to be a RPM or solenoid problem. Like I said, "The transmission shifts fine manually if I shift it according to the RPM's in the manual. I don't feel like it's an Internal problem other than maybe a solenoid I don't know about. HELP HELP HELP!!

When was your last tranny fluid change? I've had good luck with replacing tranny mounts. They can cause a lot of problems.
