2004 Ranger fuel pump/system problem (HELP! please)
Ford RangerMore than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.
2004 Ranger fuel pump/system problem (HELP! please)
Ranger has been worked on 4 times by the same place in the last 4 weeks. The fuel pump has been replaced twice, as well as having a new fuel filter, relay, pigtail and wiring. New plugs and wires were installed on the second trip back. It is starting to run rough again. This is what happens before it just will not start. When driving down the road, it starts to hesitate ever so slightly. The initial problem was that it would turn over but not start. A Ford dealership ran a diagnostic before taking it back to the independent mechanic the third time. Dealership said it was fuel pump code. I have no clue what is going on, but I am about ready to drive it off a cliff. ANY ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm having the same problem with one of my rangers, I'll drive it to a job site then when is time to go. it would just crank but no start. I check the basics fuel cut of switch and fuses all good. Had the ranger tow to a shop, they called me saying they had to replace the fuel pump, so they did. couple weeks later same deal took it back to the shop. Then they tell me is the fuel pump cut off switch gone bad. Replace that too. weeks later same deal again, they warrenty the switch again with a factory new design. so far so good. Now I'm having the same problem with my second ranger, so I had the shop look at it and same deal bad switch, they replace that now 5 days later guess what. back at the shop for same deal. This is getting little frustrating. Does any body know whats going on?
