Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default 89 Ranger died! HELP!!
4 cyl, 2.3L
5 speed

I love my Ranger, so I put a brand spanking new exhaust system on her yesterday. I also put 3/4 tank of gas in the tank.

Last night, my oldest son was driving her and she just quit running. The engine will turn over and it acts like it wants to start, but doesn't.

It was surging with me yesterday. The RPM gauge fluctuated between 750 and 1000 at idle.

I haven't had any problems with this truck, so I'm kinda stumped as to what it wrong. My husband said she needed a tune-up because she was missing out.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a fuel pump to me! Also check your belts make sure they are tight..
