oil filter option?

I have a 1992 Ford Ranger V6 3.0L. I'd been away from changing my own oil for a while, so when the auto parts store looked up the oil-filter size, I grabbed what they said. Well, they said wrong - I bought a (Fram) ph8A, and evidently I need a ph3600.

My question is this: I know I have seen both of these differently sized filters put on my truck before by other people; will either one work, or must I drive a borrowed car to the store and buy the other size?

You can look it up online at www.fram.com to be sure of what you require. I've had good results using their X2 doubleguard filter. With synthetic oil of course. I'd take it back to the store (somehow) and do an exchange. Store ppl might seem knowledgeable, but when they're paid minimum wage, they don't care what you get.
