Ford RangerMore than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.
My name is Dan and I kindly request some help from someone more experienced than me. My truck info is the following:
2002 Mazda B3000
3.0L Vin "U"
Manual tranny, 2WD.
I have a squeaking coming from where the tranny matches up to the engine. It's in sync with the RPM of the truck and it sounds like a dry bearing. Pretty loud though. It does it when in gear AND out of gear. It does it with the clutch in and the clutch out. Basically it always does it. And it's getting louder.
1.I have removed the serpentine and ran the engine and still does it so it's none of the accessories or the tensioner or the idler
2. I have removed the starter and popped the clutch to get it started. Still squealing so not the starter.
It really sounds like a bearing and it got louder with the starter off so it must be coming from somewhere near the flywheel. I'm thinking pilot bearing but then wouldn't it stop when the clutch is engaged? I'm stumped. I'd like some input from you guys before I proceed to remove the tranny and change the pilot bearing to no effect.
