Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default Will rubber hose work as fuel line on 1992 ford ranger?

I am in the process of replacing my 1992 ford ranger fuel lines.... however, they discontinued the entire fuel line assembly, and all i can find to replace them are the connector pieces with about 18" of nylon tubing. Does anyone know if I can connect a piece of rubber tubing or hose between the sections of nylon tubing... I was just worried about where the nylon tubing connects with the rubber tubing that it might leak there or something. My old assembly has nylon tubing all the way from the fuel pump to the filter, so i didn't know if this was because the high pressure would burst other hoses. If anyone understands what I am trying to do... please let me know if this sounds ok. Thanks.

Yes as long as you use Fuel Injection type rubber hose and the special Fuel Injection type hose clamps. Make sure you buy Fuel Injection hose, when I did a repair in my line last year the Manager tried to sell me regular fuel hose and tried to convince me it is the same, a regular employee told him he was wrong and it would burst under high pressure. Funny how Managers dont know jack sometimes.

The rubber hose as far as I know will only attach to metal lines.

Thanks for the reply... I actually kind of figured out a way though... here me out and let me know if you think this sounds right. They sell the fuel line connectors with about 18" of nylon tubing and these kits come with a metal connector piece. I now found out that i can buy bulk nylon tubing of the same diameter and use that connector piece to attach the two tubes. The guy at Napa said that you have to heat the stuff with hot water or something hot to make the nylon form to the metal... then I will just have to connect the extra tubing to another one of the connector tubes and run it to the filter, and same with the return hose... i kept the vapor line intact.. it looks good. You think that sounds ok? I think the Nylon tubing would be best due to the high pressure running through the lines.

wait wait wait... your saying just buy the appropriate diameter of fuel injection hose that fits the pump and filter tubes, clamp the lines on with the special hose clamps and just run the lines.... no special connectors... sounds interesting, but i just want to make sure thats what your talking about

Yeah one of my metal lines was leaking. I cut the line and used FI hose and the special clamps. No leaks and the repair was done well over 1 year ago!
