Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default One-touch-down window problem

Hi. I'm new here, and if this question has already been asked & answered, I apologize. I have a 1998 Ford Ranger 4WD Supercab, and my driver's side power window has the "one-touch-down" feature. The last few days, it has begun to act up. When I use the one-touch-down feature, and the window reaches the bottom and is all the way down, it sounds like the motor is not stopping when it should, and you hear a loud grinding noise, like a gear jumping cogs. Is there an optical sensor inside the door that detects the window position and stops the motor? If there is, can it be cleaned? I was wondering if it might just be dirty and unable to detect the position of the window, so the motor just keeps running even after the window is down all the way. I would appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Sincerely,
Tosty

Default load/current draw sensor

Thanks for the input. Could that be causing the problem I am having? And if so, is that something I can replace myself?

Best regards,
Tosty

I am also having this problem. I had to replace my window regulator because the motor kept running and chewed up the teeth on the old one. I put the new one in thinking it would fix it, but is still doing it. I recently replaced the motor also.
