Ford RangerMore than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.
on my 2000 ford ranger my speedo isnt working ive replaced the vss on the rear differential and no change and there is no vss on the tranny. The transmission shifts hard and the check engine light is on idk what it is only thing i can think of is maybe a pcm or loose ground. any ideas anyone
i ened up taking it to the dealership and the statement said"diagnosed and found the electrical connector under the driver seat on the outside has corroded electrical pins. The electrical circuits run to the vehicle speed sensor, license plate lights, and all electrical items to the back of the truck.
is he talking about under the driver seat like i have to take the seat off or under neath it like the frame any answers
There is a harnass that runs through the floorboard under the driver's seat. It is accessed from under the vehicle. The connector gets road film and moisture accumulated on it and penetrates the harnass, causing problems in several circuits. If you get under the vehicle, just at the driver's door, you will see the harnass about halfway to the transmission.

That question can only be answered by looking at the damage. Sometimes the wires are corroded to the point that they must be replaced. Here is where a good souldering gun comes in handly. If it is only intrusion damage affecting the operation, then a good cleaning with a contact cleaner and some dielectric grease would do the job.
