Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Unhappy Timing belt installed incorrectly

I was told by an "expert ford mechanic" that even if I installed the timing belt incorrectly on a 94 2.3l (which I did) that it should not cause damage to the engine. I have the timing belt on right now and the engine won't even turn over, but leaks gas. I'm assuming that I'm SOL but any comments are appreciated.

Remove all the spark plugs and see if the engine will crank.

I also forgot to mention that every time I've tried to start it I get the strong smell of gas

Might of had too much fuel in the cylinders causing hydrolock.

Pop the inertia switch on your firewall to disable the fuel pump, crank the engine several times with all plugs removed to clear the cylinders.

Install timing belt correctly, replace plugs and drain the oil cause it probably is contaminated with fuel now due to the flooding.

Push inertia switch back in and see if it starts.

No dice still doesn't wanna crank, but now I've seen the fuel leak. It's coming from a piece of stainless tubing in between the intake and the engine, some part of the fuel system but what exactly?

It is a fuel line.

If the engine is an interference engine and you installed the belt wrong you could have possible bent valves now keeping the engine from cranking.

You sure the battery is at a full charge?
