Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default 93 Ranger won't take a jump

OK, I'm just a wife trying to help my husband and his true love stay together--his 1993 Ford Ranger. "Jethro" has almost 200,000 miles on him, but he's hanging in there. Two days ago, my husband went to start the car and no dice. AAA came and said the battery was good, gave him a jump, and suggested he clean the terminals and posts. He did that, but now Jethro won't even take a jump. Any suggestions for what we should try next? I know my husband likes me, but he loves Jethro. Plus, they've been together ten years longer than we have! Thanks!

hey, i have a 94 that just hit 203,000 still going strong. my cables get really bad sometimes. some days i have to clean them at least twice. i finally got tired of it and bought 1 of those $3 sets at o'reilys. i recommend buying one of those sets or if your terminals aren't in bad shape then painting them to keep the acid off because that can cause bad connection. i hope you get r dun

This isnt common for rangers. but i had an old chevy suburban had a problem very similar to that. the power may have something to do wiht the starter. if the solenoid's bad in the starter. no jumpy. so ask your hubby to check to see if the accesories or any electric (Lights for example.) works. if it DOES. definitly starter. or an electric problem. between the batt. and starter. so its either the starter itself, the wiring, or of course all thats left is the battery. If its the wire setup where the wires screw into the side of the battery. instead of the loops that fit over the main terminal studs. than they can strip out and not make a solid ENOUGH connection.

But whatever the case im SURE itll be one of those 3. so try what mighty tidus suggested. and if it doesnt work after that. your hubby will have to move to the starter as the next cause. good luck. repost if it worked id liek to know if i helped any :P

my "jethro" had the same problem-the previous reply was correct. the starter solinoid was the culprit.

well, it could be that or the altenator is fried internal and the best way to check is to use a multimeter. take a read for continuity at the starter seliniod and the field terminal on alt. good luck
