Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Exclamation metal ping sound in reverse

Hi I have a 2002 ranger Fx4 4.0 auto i just started hearing this sound. when i drive forward i here no sound. when i go in reverse and start rolling i here a ping then it stops i still move then when i go back into drive it pings when i start rolling then if fine please help email me back please doomrus26@aim.com

At any speed? or just rolling at an idle? Have you checked your u-joints and cv-joints?

no i have not checked that what would i be looking for. and its at idle its when i put it in reverse and start to move is when it makes the noise but to get it to make the noise again i have to put it in drive and move forward its almost like there is a delay on moving
