Ford RangerMore than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.
Hello, all
I own a 2002 ranger 4.0L automatic and I was wondering if ford has any PCM updates. If ford does, how much would it cost. I really dought that this truck has even had one before, so I figured if they had one , I'd go ahead and get it. I'd really appreciate the help.
If you're talking about the main computer, then I've never heard of Ford offering updates for it.
Many of the functions that the computer controls - such as ignition timing; air fuel mixture; transmission shift points; etc. - are programmable either by the dealer, or via a programmer such as the X-Cal.
PCM(powertrain control module), ECM(electronic control module), computer; they all are the same thing. It controls and monitors engine and transmission function.I was wondering there are any software updates available for the above

Only a Ford Dealer (or a garage that has purchased the right to download PCM software from Ford) would know.
