Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

it should be along the driver's side frame rail before the rear tire. just follow the fuel line from the tank and you'll find it.

It's on in the drivers side frame rail. Remember, it is behind a protective plate, so you won't see it right away. Look for a plate with the fuel line running behind it and two bolts going downward into the frame.

Excellent responses!

You may need a special tool to remove it. Ask the gentleman at the parts counter if you will need a special tool.
This is a picture of a set that I bought that I have needed for a number of Ford filters.

Hello Friends..

The fuel filter is part of the fuel pressure regulator and is locating to the passenger side of the fuel tank. It is easily accessible. The part you'll be searching for on your car and at the local parts store is small the canister is like the size of a baby food jar and it also has an electrical pig tail attached and the fuel is supplied with one hose in and one house out (return-less fuel system). I think part of what people get confused about is that there is a filter of sorts installed in the tank at the end of the fuel pump p pickup tube but this is just a pre-filter just keeps larger particles from getting lodged in the expensive pump assembly 250-300 bucks. The fuel system on this car keeps the fuel rail charged with aprox. 45 PSI of fuel at all running conditions and adjusts fuel delivery for the engine by shortening or lengthening the injector duty cycle (how long the injector is open)

Thanks

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

The fuel filter is mounted to the drivers side frame rail by a bracket, which also acts as a protective shield

Shut the engine off. Depressurize the fuel system.

Raise and support the vehicle safely.

Detach the fuel lines from both ends of the fuel filter by disengaging both push connect fittings. Install new retainer clips in each push connect fitting.

Remove the filter from the bracket by loosening the filter retaining clamp enough to allow the filter to pass through.

Install the filter in the bracket, ensuring proper direction of flow as noted by arrow

Install the push connect fittings at both ends of the filter.

Lower the vehicle.

Start the engine and check for leaks.
