Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default 98 Ranger Extended cab doors stuck

Anyone know how to open the extended cab doors when the handle won't work? The top latch opens with the handle, but the bottom latch won't release - the thin cable seems to be intact- but pulling on it doesn't work. There is an access hole on the low front of the door (rubber plug) through which I've sprayed some WD40 onto what appears to be the rusty latch mechanism, but it's so hard to see into there that I can't figure out what I can pry on to release it. Thanks.

you can get the door panels off on this unit without breaking them.you need to unbolt the seat belt on the bottom and slider.pull hard on panel or use a big flat srewdriver by some of retainers to pop them.you then need a helper to pull out on top of door to make clearence to get panel off around top latch.99% of time then i get in back and with someone pulling on the door handle kick the botton of door .this usually lets the door open so use can remove the rusted latch(3 screws,1 connectorand the cable)if its seized the wy i seen it will have to be replaced for its a sealed unit.good luck
