Ford Ranger More than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

Default Need help with my environment controls.

Recently the air stopped coming through my front panels, I mean it justed stopped. Instead the air only come through my windshield vents. The blower controls work fine, the temperature dial works fine, but the dial that adjusted the air for the floor, windshield, and front panels doesn't do anything. Where ever I turn it to it always just blows out the windshield ducts. Normally I wouldn't care, but I live in Arizona and it's hot right now. I want the cool air on my face and body not the windshield. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. P.S. I checked the various fuses and ducts for blockage there fine.

You have a series of diverter's otherwise known as damper's . When an obstruction occurs such as a pen, pencil, business card or anything else that can make its way into the duct's the rusult is that the the damper affected by the obstruction may stay closed thus routing the airflow out through the defrost or floor duct's instead of the frontal duct's that you have selected, It is a tedious but required job. My pain began when my nephew decided that the right front duct vent was a good place to discard a small peice of construction paper, as a result I went through exactly what you describe!

Thanks for the reply. Did you have to take the dash apart? Do you know where the damper is on this truck? I've been looking for the diagram of the air system, but can't find it on the web.

There is one other thing I neglected to mention, and that would be the little vacuum supply line. This tube is right near the refrig.lines and continues to your dash (through the fire wall) if theres a leak "hole" in the tube you will only get a/c through the defrost vents, these tubes also have been known to fall off completely which can also cause your problem. I'd suggest checking it out and making sure it is well connected. Sorry I overlooked this before but I remembered this happening to a mazda p/u that had the A/c through the def.vent problem that you previously described.
