Ford RangerMore than two decades ago, the Ford Ranger debuted as an answer to various compact pickup trucks being made available by Japanese automakers. The Ranger was cleanly styled and offered with a choice of a 6-foot or 7-foot bed. Ford boasted that the Ranger had more interior room than the best-selling imports and that 4-by-8-foot construction material could be carried in the bed.

my son-in-law changed the oil in this truck last week. it wasn't drove until a few days later.he went to town about 15 miles away.on the way back he stopped at a light then took off, this is when it started.he said it started smoking a lot of white smoke. he pulled off the road to see what was wrong. he then started down the road and it was ok then.later he was going up a upgrade and it started smoking again and could hear a pinging sound. it dosen't do it on level ground. just in a strain i guess. checked the oil is is ok, coolant level ok.
he put 5 quarts in it when he changed with a new filter. any idea's.
stuck ring, bad ring or???? head gasket??
don't see any sign of water in the oil
any idea's are appreciated
I have a 1992 ford tempo sedan and it does the same thing, only it has an oil leak, lol. But mine will smoke. Especially under strain and it will ping. Even with full oill level. I've noticed the smoking from my cadilac converter. Which could mean there's a clog somewhere or a bad valve in the enine. Where exactly is the smoke coming from?
possibly fuel injectors. same thing happened to an associate's truck at work. after driving it into the shop, he had a tech diag. it and found out fuel injectors were bad. replaced them and the smoke went away.
