| shifting problems I have a 96 ranger that is hard to shift. I drive about 250 miles a day. Early in the morning everything is find, but in the afternoon I experience problems shifting. Sometimes if I double cluth it helps. When I'm at a stop sign is when I experience the most difficults trying to get it into first gear. I've replaced the master cylinder, but didn't help. Any suggestions or is the master cylinder that I replace bad also. |

| Sounds like it's time for a new clutch. If you live in the South Bay area in Los Angeles, I suggest contacting Steve at California Transmissions, 310-973-7474. His shop worked on my 93 Taurus and did an excellent job at VERY affordable prices. Without a doubt, only he'll EVER work on my 2001 Ranger XLT when the time comes.

| I had the same problem with my 92, shifting fine when cold, but the warmer it got, the harder it was to get into gear. I had to fiddle with shifting into 3rd, then i could get down into first. we ended up bleeding the clutch quite a bit until the fluid ran clean (it was quite dirty to begin with), and eventually a big chunk of black stuff came out, like it was plugging the lines. |
