Ford Sport Trac The Ford Explorer Sport Trac is a four-door, five-passenger, midsize pickup. It was unique when it first appeared in 2000, but today it must compete with midsize four-door pickups from every major player. Essentially a Ford Explorer with a pickup bed, the Sport Trac offers plenty of room inside for people and out back for cargo.

Hi Guys. I went from owning a 99 F150 to a 04 Murano and really miss having a bed for hauling my dirtbikes. I'm considering a 07 Sport Trak but not sure if the bed is long enough, even with the tailgate down. Does anyone know the measurements from the front of the bed to the end of the tailgate (with the tailgate down)? I've been researching mid size trucks and like the looks, size, 4.6 engine, frame, and independent suspension of the 07 Sport Traks.. Any negatives with the 4.6 engine over the 4.0 (besides milage)? Thanks!

Specs say the (current model) box is 49" (inside) and the depth (approximate height of the tail gate) is 21"

Neither engine is noted for good mileage. Might as well get the 4.6L. IMHO it is a better engine.

whats up man, i have a 05 ST

the 07-up gen 2 STs are great for hauling, ive driven them and have haulded a gsxr 600 with the tailgate down and a bed extender.

it was a little tricky, but was able to angle it to where i could strap it down and haul it off

the 4.0 produces 210 HP
the 4.6 produces 290 HP

the performance of the 4.6 is alot better and gets SLIGHTLY better mileage.

i plan on getting the 4.6 in my next ST

Also, if your worried about mileage
look into a SCT programmer... you can adjust different options and if you make a good perfomance tune youll wonder how you ever managed without it.

its my favorite buy for my ST.
