Ford Sport Trac The Ford Explorer Sport Trac is a four-door, five-passenger, midsize pickup. It was unique when it first appeared in 2000, but today it must compete with midsize four-door pickups from every major player. Essentially a Ford Explorer with a pickup bed, the Sport Trac offers plenty of room inside for people and out back for cargo.

Default ignition knock sensor

I am hearing a great deal of detonation on my 2002 Expplorer Sport Trac, I have tried higher octanegas without significant results. I think I may have to change the Ignition Knocok Sensor, can I tell before changing it if that is indeed the problem? and where is it located, I have gotten several different opinions on the location.
Thanks

The sensor is located under the intake manifold and is a very big job to change, requires removal of several top engine components. Take it to a auto parts store that will do a free OBDII check on your car the code will tell you if it's the IK sensor, but if the check engine light isn't on probably not.
