Ford Sport Trac The Ford Explorer Sport Trac is a four-door, five-passenger, midsize pickup. It was unique when it first appeared in 2000, but today it must compete with midsize four-door pickups from every major player. Essentially a Ford Explorer with a pickup bed, the Sport Trac offers plenty of room inside for people and out back for cargo.

Default 2001 Sport Trac

Runs good. Starts with high RPMs, the check engine light is on. Idles like riding a kiddy ride at Wal-Mart. Bumps, Shimmies, Jiggles. Slight gurgle when driving, like bad gas. Someone help a lady out, please.

If it is the AIC, where is this located?

Gee, I have 2004 & it starts the same way!

High RPMS.. a lot higher than V6 2000 EB that wife drives (same engine) but my version has trans diff.
Had to cut manual A/C switch off when starting cause you will get kick when compressor kicks in upon start.
Also had Original 92 EB Explorer 4x4 got 280K till somebody ran a stop sign while on a CELL phone :>(
Loss my Steel Bumpered Paid for 4x4...

Depending upon how many miles you have I would check MAF sensor & air filter. These models rev higher than the older explorers and the Overdrive gear is like 1000 RPM higher in OD then previous editions. JMHO.

All in all it is still avery versatile vehicle.
